About Good Steward Naturals Thanks for your interest in Good Steward Naturals. Our mission is to provide a total green marketplace, with information on health, wellness, earth friendly living, and products that will make an earth friendly lifestyle an easy choice. Subscribers receive a monthly newsletter, "The Stewards Journal", filled with Green Living information, health and wellness articles, and information on natural and organic products. Green Product Rating: Coming Soon In order to assist our customers in their green product choices we are implementing a Green Product Rating for each product in our store. This rating will help you make more informed choices and also provide you with information as to why a product is on our site. Our rating is based on the following criteria. Ingredients / Materials - What goes into the product and why is this green?
Certification - What certification, memberships or recommendations does the product or producer carry.
Eco Mission - Why is the producer of the product making their product. Do they have a commitment to the environment or free trade. Production - How and where is the product made. Giving - Does the producer of the product make contributions to environmental, humanitarian or other worthwhile causes.
Product Safety: We take product safety seriously. We strive to provide products that are the safest possible for individual health and environmental concerns. For this reason we exclude products that contain the following ingredients: Parabens, Flouride, Chlorine, Bisphenal, BPA's, and Lead. We also check all personal use products and cosmetic's ingredients against the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics Database. We exclude any products with an overall ranking of 6 or above, or whose individual ingredients have a ranking above 6. We are working to provide important information on each product, so you the consumer can make your own best judgements as to a products safety, and environmental impact. For this reason we include ingredient information for all products where this makes sense to do so. We will not sell a product from any company that is afraid to disclose their ingredients for any reason, even proprietary ones. We search out companies with well known and established reputations pertaining to safety, environmental focus, and fair trade practices. Producers who are new or less well known are evaluated according to ingredients, outside qualifying certifications, and screening by other organizations whose standards are well established.
